is for children who have experienced or are currently experiencing

trauma to receive intense, consistent, one-on-one, reading intervention from a trained reading specialist to outweigh the negative effects caused

by adverse childhood experiences. IWRBR is a nonprofit that provides reading mentoring, summer camps, after school programs, family engagement sessions, and professional development for educators.

Center for Public Education, 2015

Children living in poverty experience more summer learning loss than their wealthier peers, but targeted summer learning programs can make a difference.

BBQ & Books

Community Support

IWRBR launched BBQ & Books on May 15th in front of Keystone Learning Academy in support of our partner school McFerran Preparatory Academy. In total we served 350 meals, provided 350 masks, and gave away summer toys, books, and personal care items. This initiative was made possible by One Louisville COVID-19 Relief Fund, Clariant, Councilman David James, and our supporters. Sowing Seeds With Faith and Inside The Lines Training also provided lots of volunteers and water!

Trauma Informed Reading Mentor

Trauma Responsive Reading Block

Teachers are always looking for ways to increase their capacity in the classroom, especially in guided reading and reading block. Our training and coaching offers individualized planning and problem solving as well as presentations from some of the most knowledgeable literacy specialists in our state.
